A congratulations is due for the nine young men and KAVI participants who graduated this year from Wingate High School! Hard work and a dedication to positive energy has led these young men to a path of success which is a building block to becoming kings!
On Thursday, June 13, 2013, the Kings Against Violence Initiative was honored by the United Federation of Teachers School Safety Department with the Community Service Award at the 2nd Annual Partners in Safety Soiree. The UFT expressed its appreciation for the change KAVI has made at Wingate High School in its efforts to eradicate youth violence and create a safer school environment for both students and teachers. Executive Director, Dr. Robert Gore, along with colleagues, Russell Frederick and Bayete Ross Smith, accepted the award and an official certificate signed by Brooklyn Borough President, Marty Markowitz.
